The convention center loop will have two 1-mile-long tunnels and was contracted at $52.5 million.
To be completed in January 2021, the same time as the convention center's 1.4 million square feet expansion of it's current 2.3 million-square-foot footprint, and in time for the annual Consumer Electronics Show.
The loop was designed to move 4,400 passengers per hour and will be free for patrons of the convention center.
The convention center expansion will be about 1.5 miles long, and passengers will be able to travel the full distance in just a few minutes instead of a half an hour to walk.
Work on stations and stops aboveground began last month after The Boring Company's machine was assembled on site
Elevators and escalators will provide access to each station. There will be protection from the weather, video surveillance, WiFi, vehicular tunnel access; and underground passenger stations.
Another tunnel underneath the Las Vegas strip is also possible.
